What is the Turkey visa?

Do I need a visa for my trip to Turkey?
The electronic visa is mandatory for all travellers to Turkey, except for travellers that possess a Turkish passport. For business trips and holidays to Turkey it is therefore mandatory to apply for a Turkey visa. The visa obligation applies to travellers of all ages, including children and babies, even if they are included in the passports of their parents. Travellers that want to stay in Turkey for longer than 90 days, want to enter into service with a Turkish organisation or want to live or study in Turkey cannot apply for their visa for Turkey online and need to apply for a visa at the Turkish embassy.
How do I apply for a visa?

How do I apply for an urgent Turkey visa?
A regular visa application is often granted the same day, but can also take longer, up to a maximum of 3 days. If you expect to arrive in Turkey earlier it is wise to submit an urgent application. Urgent applications are generally processed right away, making it so there is a 95% certainty that you will receive the visa by e-mail within 15 minutes. What is the Turkey visa fee?
The visa fee is £49,95 per traveller. In a single application, multiple visas can be applied for; the price per visa will remain unchanged. If you apply for an urgent visa (delivery on average within 15 minutes instead of two days) an added fee of £17,50 per visa is charged. Payment can be made through various options, including Visa, MasterCard, American Express and PayPal. Regardless of the payment method chosen, there are no additional costs added.
How long does it take before the visa is issued?
The Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs generally tries to issue all visa as quickly as possible. In virtually all cases the visa is issued within 48 hours, oftentimes much faster. Travellers with a special urgent application generally receive their visa by e-mail within 15 minutes.
Can a visa application be rejected?
Generally, virtually all applied for visas are also issued. Reasons why the Turkish government could reject an application can often be traced back to wrongly filled in information in the visa application, such as an incorrectly filled in passport number. Turkey might also refuse an application if it is suspected that the traveller is travelling to turkey with wrong intentions, or might otherwise pose a threat to Turkey. take note: even if a visa is granted, there is never a guarantee that Turkish customs will allow you to enter the country. The Turkish government at all times maintains the right to barr travellers and deport them from the country.
Do I need a passport or ID-card for a visa application?
To apply for a visa you need either a passport or an identification card. In case you use a passport, it needs to be valid for at least 150 more days from the moment of arrival in Turkey. If you use an identification card it needs to be valid for at least the entirety of your stay in Turkey. How long is the Turkey visa valid for?
A Turkey visa is valid for 180 days, but during these 180 days travellers can stay in Turkey for a maximum of 90 days. Do you want to stay in Turkey longer? Then you can apply for an extension with the national police. There are also special visas for travellers that want to stay in Turkey for longer than 90 days, but these cannot be ordered online. Can I change my application, cancel it or make a correction?
From the moment you pay your visa onward, under no circumstances is it possible to make any changes to the application. Even if you made a mistake writing down your passport number or other information it is no longer possible to correct it. If this visa is still granted even with an error in the application, there is a large chance that it is declared invalid by Turkish customs when you try to enter the country with it. If you wish to change the information in your application this can only be done by submitting an entirely new application and paying visa the visa anew. Under no circumstances will any application be refunded, neither in the case of incorrectly filled in applications nor in the case of unused visas.
Can I apply for multiple visas in a single application form?
This is possible. During the application, first some data about the person submitting the application will be asked for, and then about the traveller(s). It is possible to add multiple travellers to a single application, so that you can apply for visas for an entire travel company at once.
Why do I need a visa?
European traveller are often used to going on holidays and business trips without needing to apply for a visa. This is due to the Schengen treaty, which states that inhabitants of a participating country don’t need visas to travel to other participating countries. However, Turkey is not part of the Schengen treaty, just like, for instance, the USA and India. For some of these countries a visa is required, such an e-visa, and in the case of the USA an ESTA application is necessary.
